Nickie Gething

Trustee

After completing a bachelor’s degree in Political Science at Columbia University, Nickie worked as a TV journalist in New York and London. For the last decade, she has worked for a London property fund helping develop their business and manage property refurbishments and investments. She plans to retire from this role in 2024.

Charity work has always played a part in Nickie’s life. Alongside her paid work, she has volunteered for homeless charities in New York, London and Somerset, RAPt in London, and a community centre in Somerset. To facilitate her volunteer work, she has completed a foundation course at the Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Nickie trained with Promiseworks just before Covid in 2020 and has been mentoring for over three years. She felt that her own values of rigour, integrity and empathy are firmly aligned with the charity and immediately saw the benefits of long-term mentoring, not only to a vulnerable young person’s life but also to the mentors themselves.

In 2023, Nickie was appointed a trustee of Promiseworks. She looks forward to bringing her business and life experiences to help the charity grow and flourish. She also hopes to help raise awareness of the unique and life-changing benefits of this charity.

When not working, Nickie can be found jogging across wet Somerset fields with her dogs.
