Hinkley Point C Community Fund
In 2019, our first major proposal effort was rewarded with a grant of £110,000 from the Hinkley Point C Community Fund
After an extensive bidding process managed rigorously by Somerset Community Foundation, in late 2019 PROMISEworks was awarded a grant of £110,000 by the Hinkley Point C Community Fund. This grant funded a three-year programme to establish a full-time presence for the charity in the Bridgwater/Sedgemoor region of the county.
This award marked a strategic milestone in the development of PROMISEworks. The invaluable support of the experienced team from Somerset Community Foundation drove learning and development. This encouraged us to introduce systems and processes more appropriate to the charity we wanted to become as opposed to the prototype that had emerged since our relaunch in 2016.
The success of the Sedgemoor initiative provided the model for growth across the rest of the county, with the establishment of Area Coordinator roles in each of the county’s four regions. Each Area Coordinator can design a service that is appropriate for their local community
The Hinkley Point C Community Fund was created to help mitigate the impact of the construction of the Hinkley Point C power station on local communities. By April 2022, the fund had awarded £5.4million to community organisations supporting the people of Sedgemoor and Somerset West & Taunton – see the link below for more information
